ArchivalResource

Fairfield transportation oral history collection, 1973-1975.

The collection contains audiotape cassette interviews, transcriptions, and supporting documentation including unrestricted transfer of ownership rights for nine oral history interviews of elderly Fairfield citizens. The interviewees ranged in age from 65 to 101. While the subject of the interviews is transportation in Fairfield in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including public, farm, business, and transportation routes, the interviews tend to range farther afield covering personal and anecdotal memories including school days, family life, housing, employment, recreation, and more. Interviewees include Morris Burr, Samuel Glover, Hattie Hamilton, Andrew S. Huntington, Mrs. Gerald (Sally Mercurio) Malafronte, Herbert Sherwood, Howard Smith, Homer Sturges, and George Walton.
